Education is a right not a privilege. Sa ngayon, ang dekalidad edukasyon sa pilipinas ay unti-unting nahuhulog isang pribilehiyo na lamang ng mga taong may pera. Ang iba naman ay naghihirap sa pagtatrabaho upang makapagtapos lamang sa pag-aaral. Ngunit, kung hindi ako nagkakamali, nakasaad sa ating pambansang batayang batas na ang gobyerno ay responsable sa pagsisiguro na mabigyan ng libre at dekalidad na edukasyon ang lahat ng mamamayan ng bansa. Ngunit kabaliktaran ang nangyayari. Naging isang pangarap na mahirap makamit na lamang ang libre at dekalidad na edukasyon. Noon pa man ay nagiging palaisipan na ito para sakin. Maaari bang magkaroon ng libre at dekalidad na edukasyon? Mula nursery hanggang kolehiyo, nasa isang pampribadong eskwelahan ako nakapag-aral. Masasabi ko na dekalidad ang edukasyon tinatamasa ko. As a member of the AdDU Alumni Association (Pioneering Batch of AB PolSci 1996-2000) and as a former President of SAMAHAN in 1998-1999 and 1999-2000 when Fr. Edmundo Martinez was the University President, it is nice to hear from you as the present University President challenging the Ateneans to pursue a student leadership in our university that is a Jesuit, Catholic and Filipino. Your statement of encouragement is so powerful and inspiring to acquire a sense of student leadership that “does not advance private interest (my profit, my comfort, my power, or our good vs. yours ) but to advance the common good.
